Operating a crack sealing machine isn't difficult, but following a precise sequence and respecting the hot material is crucial for a safe, effective, and long-lasting repair. Here are the 6 essential tips you need to know, from preparation to cleanup.
1. Prepare the Crack (Cleaning is Critical)
Sealant won't stick to dirt, vegetation, or moisture. This is the most important step for a durable repair.
Use JIEHE crack router to groove the crack. Use a crack groving machine to re slot the original old cracks, which can extend the service life of the sealant on the grooved road surface by twice.
2. Suit Up for Safety
Hot-pour sealant is applied at extremely high temperatures (often over 350°F/175°C) and can cause severe burns.
Work Zone Safety: Set up cones and warning signs to keep traffic away from the fresh sealant.
3. Heat the Machine and Material Correctly
How you heat the machine depends on your equipment type. Overheating is the number one cause of sealant failure, as it burns the rubber components and makes the material brittle.
Hot-Pour Machines: Start the burner and heat the sealant to recommended temperature.
Agitation: If your machine has an agitator or mixing lever, use it frequently to ensure the temperature remains uniform.
4. Smooth and level the Sealant

5. Clean Up Immediately
Once the sealant cools and hardens (usually in 15-30 minutes), it is nearly impossible to remove from your equipment.
Notice: Before the machine cools down, purge the remaining sealant from the hoses and wand.
After filling, if there is still sealant inside the Hose heater, turn on the feed pump for 5mins.Helps to facilitate the reflux of sealant, unclog the heating tube, and ensure easy start-up next time.
